Hoping for Better Weather
It was raining early on Saturday morning, so we headed out to Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park after it stopped raining about 9:00 AM. But unfortunately, the rain resumed after we had been there for less than an hour, and we only spotted the Purple Heron. So I decided to try my luck again and headed over on a weekday, and thankfully the skies were clear during the evening!
Elusive Flycatcher
You can hear the chirping of many tiny birds in the park, and I noticed one big old tree that had many sunbirds and flycatchers hopping around it. The decision to do bird watching at 4 PM paid off as I finally got a good shot of the elusive Asian Brown Flycatcher!
p/s: I think the Flycatcher is just adorable!
Shy and Hidden Malaysian Pied Fantail
I saw the Malaysian Pied Fantail over the weekend, and it was hanging around the same spot low to the ground on my second visit. It's a pretty shy bird, and kept jumping back behind the big leaves to stay hidden. But it stayed put long enough for me to see all the identifying features (e.g. the white "eyebrow", the brown-and-white undertail) to confirm that it was a Fantail.
